Cooling Tower Issue

An 800 ton cooling tower at a detergent bottling plant had severe fouling.
The result of the out of control fouling was an approach temperature 4 times above normal.
Production was in danger of being shut-down.
Clean-up Solution
An emergency clean-up was initiated.
165 ppm of BCP® 2175 was applied as a slug dose directly into the sump of the cooling tower of the fouled 3,000 gallon system.
Within 10 minutes of dosing, cleaning and release of biofilm from the cooling tower surfaces was visible.
At 11 minutes, the field technician took this video of the cleaning action…
BCP® 2175 in Action
Results
After 45 minutes approach temperatures began to drop.
A second slug dose of BCP® 2175 at 165 ppm was applied to the cooling tower sump on the following day.
By the end of the second day, approach temperatures returned to normal at 3.5°F!
