Biofilm’s Negative Impact on Heat Exchange

Biofilm is often a hidden threat in many cooling water systems. Although not easily visible, it is present and can cause numerous problems. A layer of biofilm just 0.1 mm thick on a typical copper chiller tube can reduce conductive heat transfer by 98%.

Biofilm’s Contribution to Scaling

While you may be familiar with microbial corrosion, you may not know that biofilms can contribute to scale formation in a cooling water system. In fact, controlling biofilm can help you better control scale.

AMSA BCP® Products Clean Up Fouled Cooling Water Systems

Once a cooling water system is cleaned up with AMSA Products, keep those systems clean with AMSA chemistry using a regular maintenance dosing program. You can dose AMSA chemistry in different ways to achieve a variety of performance outcomes.

This video explains how to dose AMSA products in both a slug dose and continuous dose program.

How AMSA BCP® Chemistry Works

AMSA’s BCP products are specifically designed to bind to biofilm deposits, penetrate deep into the tough biofilm matrix, and break them down.

Understanding AMSA’s chemical performance will help you choose the best way to dispense your products into various cooling water systems.

AMSA BCP® Products Keep Cooling Water Systems Clean

Once you’ve cleaned your cooling water system with AMSA products, keep it clean with AMSA through a regular maintenance dosing program. You can dose AMSA in different ways to achieve different performance results.

This video explains how to dose AMSA products with both a continuous dosing program and a small dosing program.

Biofilm Control Program Calculator

Cooling water programs that deliver optimum heat exchange and minimal corrosion and scale issues are the hallmark of a great water treatment company. AMSA BCP® is the special ingredient in a cooling water program that transforms a standard cooling water treatment program into an Effective Biofilm Control Program.

Use the Biofilm Control Program Calculator to run different scenarios with AMSA chemistry to figure out your program costs.
