BCP® 6010 With Oxidizing Biocides

Improve Oxidizing Biocide Effectiveness Against Biofilm Bacteria WITHOUT High Corrosion Rates.

Bleach and similar inexpensive oxidizing biocides are effective against planktonic bacteria, but are much less effective against biofilm bacteria due to their inability to reach bacteria below the outer surface biofilm layers.

MIC (Microbially Influenced Corrosion): Pitting on metal surfaces caused by biofilm.

Increasing oxidizing biocide treatment rates helps drive oxidizer penetration into the biofilm, but higher oxidizer concentrations throughout the system can significantly increase general corrosion rates for many metals.

Continuous low-level treatment with AMSA’s newest product, BCP® 6010, improves oxidizing biocide effectiveness against bacteria in biofilm by increasing oxidizer penetration into the biofilm.  As part of a coordinated maintenance Biofilm Control Program, BCP 6010 and the oxidizing biocide continuously clean and control growth of biofouling deposits on all system surfaces.

BCP® 6010 is an organic deposit cleaning product formulated to allow dosing as a continuous feed chemical.  It is designed to be used with an oxidizing biocide program to boost the effectiveness of the oxidizing biocide by keeping system surfaces clean and allowing greater penetration of the biocide into biofouling deposits.

Maintaining clean surfaces:

  • Lowers oxidizing biocide demand
  • Allows effective biocide treatment at lower concentrations
  • Improves MIC and Legionella control
  • Increases effectiveness of corrosion and scale inhibitors by providing greater access to surfaces

BCP® 6010 easily integrates into an oxidizing biocide treatment program to:

Keep the System Clean- By using a continuous dosing program of BCP® 6010, a low level of AMSA’s ‘designed molecule’ cleaning chemistry is always present in the system, penetrating and releasing organic deposits from system surfaces.

Protect System Surfaces: When system surfaces are free of biofilm, BCP® 6010 provides a residual surface treatment layer that forms a barrier to the initial stages of biofilm formation and protects yellow metal surfaces from corrosion at the same time.

Boost Biocide Effectiveness and Corrosion Inhibition: With its attraction to biofouling deposits and ability to penetrate (and disrupt) the stubborn polysaccharide biofilm matrix, BCP® 6010 allows the oxidizing biocide to penetrate more easily into the biofilm and kill the sessile bacteria harbored within the biofilm.  In addition, the activity of continuously cleaning surfaces limits the opportunity for MIC (microbially influenced corrosion) and gives corrosion inhibitor chemicals greater access to metal surfaces.

With the addition of BCP® 6010 to an oxidant treatment program, you can improve oxidizing biocide effectiveness against biofilm bacteria WITHOUT high corrosion rates!
